Project-Based Learning in the Math Classroom
This course follows the layout of the three books in the series Project-Based Learning in the Math Classroom. By the end of the course, participants learn why Project-Based Learning (PBL) is such a great process to add to your tool bag, why it works in a math classroom setting and how to create a project. Participants design a project as the deliverable. This is an in-person, synchronous and asynchronous professional development. Contact the team to schedule the training. Project Based Learning Teaching Practices
This course focuses on each of the teaching practices for Gold Standard Project Based Learning by PBLWorks. The training is focused on strategies and models Telannia Norfar uses in her classroom. By the end of the course, participants learn how to better incorporate each of the practices in a project. Participants revise an existing project as the deliverable. This is an in-person or synchronous professional development. Contact the team to schedule the training. Click here to access the materials for the course.
Assessment Practices
This course focuses on assessment practices that improve teaching and learning. The foundation of the training is the 2-for-1 cycle created by Telannia Norfar. By the end of the course, participants learn how to implement the cycle, how to create assessments and process to empower students to use the assessment to further their learning. Participants create an assessment plan for a unit as the deliverable. This is an in-person, synchronous and asynchronous professional development. Contact the team to schedule the training. Using Technology Like Air
This course focuses on how to teach with the support of technology rather than technology being the focus of the teaching. This course exams the use of tech within the different learning environment models such as hybrid vs blended learning. By the end of the course, participants learn how to select appropriate tech resource to support a learning goal, determine the best structure for a course based upon the learning environments and management strategies. Participants design a lesson as the deliverable. This is an in-person, synchronous and asynchronous professional development. Contact the team to schedule the training. Access to a Paid or Free Course to Accompany Our Books
We have teamed with Eduspark World to create two courses that are designed to accompany our books. If you are a “Pro” user of Eduspark, then we have our full course. In that course you will get access to a Journal to keep notes; you will be prompted to reflect on your learning and make entries in the journal; and you will have access to some Padlet prompts that are updated by each of the educators who have taken the course. This course will take you from learning about the “Why?” of doing project based learning to creating your first pbl task or pbl unit.
If you are not a Pro user, then we have our free course. The course follows the flow of our books and will give you enough support and encouragement that we hope you will walk away wanting to try project based learning in your classroom.
